Embracing the darkness within….What if the first step of your own healing is accepting your dark side, embracing it, making love to it, owning it? Do you have the courage to walk this path? Do you have the heart to keep walking one step at a time even when everything falls apart and you want to give up because it is easier, it is more rational to stop the pain before it starts.

This book is then for you, it will make you cry, it will make wanna die, it will break all your malunions and put you back to your own healing path. I am never gonna apologise if my art makes you cry because you had been strong for a long time, you stuffed all your emotions in fancy glass bottles and tucked them away in order to shuffle through the endless list of to-dos.

I hope my art brings you the strength to find your footing and restore your sight.

Again, many favorites in this book, Paper Tissue was my starting poem to this journey, it made me notice how i allowed others to determine my self-worth and i moved from this. 7 Layers Off Me is a very personal poetry series where i tackled down my childhood traumas, these series are not for the faint hearted because i will make you cry, sob your heart out, rip out your heart from your rib cage and sometimes, this is the only way we can heal. Wings Of Black is one of the poems that inspired The Flamingo Lady and Letters To My Death-to notice this only when i read back my own poem, sitting there stunned. Necessary Precautions is the moment i began to shift my own narrative, it is a very strong yet haunting poem, showing how alone this journey to healing can be. Racing is a poem i adore, it is short but definitely a shot to the heart. Cage Of Time is a very unique poem, i had to reread it many times until it all sank in, it is definitely on of my favorites. Little Girl series are my french kissing to the little girl in me, accepting her the way she was, respecting her inner strength, loving her with all she was and all she had became. Where Are We Now? , i do not know what to say about this poem, it is such a shameless flirt with death and full acceptance of failures, owning all the mistakes i had made along the way. How Darkness Was Born was written for all the black-sheep of the family, for all the cycle-breakers that are blamed, outcasted because they challenge the status quo, they point out the mistakes, they speak the truth well-knowing it will cause them to be outcasted inside the flock. But i see you, i love your brave heart and you are beautiful, inside out. This world is a better place because you are here and this book is my thank-you for all you do. You matter, keep fighting!-We have not come so far to be defeated.-

As Dark As Advertised

Cathy Blue’s collection of dark poetry comes in hot and keeps up the pressure throughout. Rhythmic verses paint themes of pain, anger, chaos, revenge, desire, hatred, resentment, grief, and regret clashing with empowerment, victory, and passing on of wisdom. And that’s before she peels off layers of her own suffering one at a time to get to the core of the voice of the words.

It’s very easy for “dark poetry” to become insufferably cliche and mawkish, as most readers have no doubt encountered before. Blue us able to avoid this trap by staying honest and unflinching in expressing who she is and the path she’s traveled. It makes for an exciting read that you’ll want to read again and again.

Very Impressive

As someone who works closely with poets, I must say that this book is a standout. The writing is deeply impressive—raw, emotional, and unflinching in its honesty.

Poets are meant to push boundaries, challenge perceptions, and evoke a spectrum of emotions, including discomfort. This author does exactly that in Embracing The Darkness Within. Through vivid and daring expressions, the work captures the complexities of human experience in a way that feels both vulnerable and powerful.

It’s a bold and thought-provoking collection that leaves a lasting impression. A truly great job by the author, and a must-read for anyone who appreciates poetry that dares to explore the darker corners of the soul.

A Journey into the Darkness

This is a raw and transformative journey that truly resonated with me. The author’s ability to delve deep into the uncomfortable parts of our psyche is both confronting and liberating. This book made me feel everything—pain, sadness, vulnerability—but in a way that was necessary for my growth. I loved how unapologetically real the writing is, pushing me to confront my own buried emotions and fears. The format was fluid, and the honesty in each chapter kept me engaged. It didn’t just break me; it helped rebuild me stronger. If you’re ready to face your shadows, this book is a must-read.

May honest poets continue to exist.

May honest poets continue to exist.

Embracing The Darkness Within by Cathy Blue is an excellent book with deep, intense poems, charged with great strength and a lot of feeling.

It is about healing, but also accepting our most complex, darkest parts.

Another aspect to highlight is that the poems are raw, direct, with few ornaments in them, and this also has its appeal.

Each poem has its date and title.

My three favorites are: Silver Nets on My Skin, Polars, and What it Was Then.

Highly recommended. May there continue to be honest poets.

Healing while owning your weakness!

A serious topic, healing! Healing from all the pains and traumas in life. But what if you need to own and acknowledge your dark side in order to fully move on. Sometimes owning one’s weakness can be the best way to free yourself of the guilt, the pain you have been carrying for awhile. I can say that the book has a bit brutal approach to healing but works in the long run.
