Why do I write?

What drew me to poetry was the need to write, it has always been like an itch for me, I have no choice but to write to find relief. I have been writing since I was around 12. I believe, we, artists, see and perceive the world in a much more different way than others, we see things through a different perception and the only way to express it was writing for me.

What’s poetry for me?

I see poetry as raw truth in lines and verses. I do not think poetry should be determined by the length or shape of it, what matters is your words, the way you reflect your emotions and thoughts. A good poem should make you think, feel something, it should suck you into its own world and its own mood. To me, this is good poetry. If a poet/writer can achieve this, then I am hooked on their art.

Where does poetry fit in about self-growth?

It gives us a better understanding and analyzing our own thoughts and emotions, a great chance to get to know yourself, the way you perceive the world around you. Sometimes it makes you realize the things you want to change in your life, what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what you really want in life. You get to know all the dark corners of your own mind and soul, it teaches you how and most importantly why you should embrace yourself. It gives you a clear mind, if you do not accept yourself as you are, then nobody else will. In a way, it boosts your self-confidence.

What’s the strongest message my poems deliver?

Poetry can deliver the strongest message: You are not alone. Sometimes, knowing we are not alone, there are also other people going through the same pain/issue/phase in life, makes us understand that we can also get over it because others did. This is a big inspiration and motivation. I want to share 2 last verses of my opening poem as a reply to this, from book 8, Last Thoughts Before The Exit:

”You are not alone,
We are not alone,
We were never alone,
The world is covered with all of us.
We are all around.

Open your heart,
Open your mind,
You are not alone,
I am you,
You are me.
I love you.”

What is my poetry style?

As a poet, I can describe myself as raw, brutal, bold and fierce. I aim to please the readers with the way I serve my art; raw, never sugar-coated, impactful dictation, easy-to-understand and plain English, simple words but smart wordplays and powerful effect on the poem itself. I also have a very sarcastic nature and very dark humour; my poems can take you from one edge to another, it all depends.

What are my goals as a poet?

I hope to change the world by impacting the people I reach, I want to deliver this message to people: None of us are alone. We may still have miles, oceans between us. Yet art, poetry, music connect us all together in a very close knitted bond, I want to give people space to lick their wounds, let them know that they are not alone, it is okay to feel the way you feel, show the power of loving yourself and chasing behind your dreams. We are all suppressed and tamed down by Society. I want to tear down some rules for my soul sisters worldwide. If I can be an inspiration or create a spark, I have served my purpose.

What are my advices for anyone who begins their poetry journey?

Never give up, never sugar-coat or change your work due to demands of others, stay true to your own roots; always save your work, never delete or think your work is garbage-this is an insult directly to your own heart and soul. You can do this, embrace your inner weirdo, accept your own uniqueness.
